A Look Inside Kevin Costner’s $200 Million Carpinteria Estate
Kevin Costner’s $145 Million Carpinteria Estate: Inside the Star’s Stunning Beachside Compound
It’s no surprise that Kevin Costner owns an impressive portfolio of real estate, especially considering his staggering $1.3 million-per-episode salary from Yellowstone before his departure in 2023. Among his most notable properties is his longtime estate in Carpinteria, California—a luxurious beachside compound valued at an estimated $145 million.
Costner has held onto the Carpinteria property since 1988, back when he was still married to his first wife, Cindy Silva. Despite their divorce in 1994, Costner retained ownership of the home. Located in the exclusive seaside town of Carpinteria in southeastern Santa Barbara County, the estate spans 1.4 acres and boasts breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The compound includes a main house and two additional residences, creating a private retreat just steps from the beach.
Over the years, Costner expanded the estate by acquiring a second nearby property in 2006 and merging it with the original, forming one expansive coastal haven.
The home made headlines in 2023 during Costner’s high-profile divorce from Christine Baumgartner. After 18 years of marriage, Baumgartner filed for divorce and initially refused to vacate the Carpinteria residence. Costner asserted that the property was a premarital asset and, per their prenuptial agreement, she had 30 days to move out. Christine’s legal team contested the move, claiming there was “no legal basis” for the eviction, but a judge ultimately ruled in Costner’s favor, ordering her to vacate the property by the end of July 2023.
Following the separation, it was revealed during a child support hearing that Christine had relocated to a $40,000-per-month rental home in nearby Montecito. Though the housing issue was resolved, the couple continued to battle over finances, including child and spousal support, until they finalized their divorce on February 14.
Beyond Carpinteria, Costner’s real estate portfolio includes a second property in Santa Barbara, a residence in La Cañada Flintridge, a Spanish-style home in Los Angeles, and a sprawling ranch in Aspen, Colorado.
